Welcome to the Team, Adam Wright!
Published:

Last Monday, we were delighted to welcome Adam Wright to the Ducketts crew. You’ll spot Adam around the office on Mondays and Tuesdays, getting a taste of life in the world of finance (we promise it’s more exciting than it sounds).
Adam has joined Ducketts as part of his university placement year.
He is studying Politics with International Relations at Aston University, so we thought we’d show him what he’s missing — the thrilling spreadsheets, the dazzling deadlines, and the glamour of payroll reconciliation. Who knows, by the end of his placement he might even swap Westminster dreams for the world of tax returns… or at least consider becoming the next Prime Minister with an accounting background.
A big, warm welcome to the team, Adam — we hope you enjoy your time with us at Ducketts!
We threw a few questions Adam’s way to get to know him better — and, true to form, he answered like a pro. Of course, I did have to run it past his dad for official approval before going public…
- What's the one thing you’ve always wanted to do? Win the lottery!
- What's your favourite food? It's very hard for me to choose a favourite, but you can’t go wrong with a nice steak and chips.
- What's your favourite film? I’m not a big film person in the slightest and don’t watch all that many films, however, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is one that springs to mind. Great soundtrack too!
- Favourite holiday destination? Amsterdam, the destination of my first “mates holiday”. Great Hip Hop and electronic music scenes.
- Who's your hero? The Alchemist. A phenomenal career producing some of the greatest hip hop records ever released, and a wizard when it comes to sampling.
- Who would you most like to swap places with for the day? Louis Theroux, because he’s interviewed some of the world's most interesting people.
- What's your passion outside of work? Record collecting, currently 300 and counting. I collect and listen to just about anything, but Jungle/Drum n Bass and Hip Hop are my go-to genres.
- What would your superpower be? Invisibility, the possibilities are endless.
- When you were young, what did you want to be when you were older? I always wanted to be a fighter pilot in the RAF. I reconsidered after discovering a passion for politics, specifically security studies.
- Last book you read? The audacity of hope - Barrack Obama. It's a great read for anyone interested in US politics.
- Tell us something we don't know about you? I’ve met Alan Carr on a night out. Lovely chap.
